Prayer

Author: Unknown

Some words that would comfort -
when late in the night the trials return and -
you're too tired to fight.
Or the tears flow so often it seems you'll run dry.
And life gets so tough that you just want to die -
Or at least go and hide -
where you're safe from all pain.
Someplace you can rest 'till you find joy again.

What are the words you so need to hear -
That will help and will heal and remove all the fear -
That builds up inside 'till you think you'll explode -
What are the words that will lighten the load?
If only I knew the right words to say.
To encourage and Bless you or comfort some way.
I know not the words but this I can do.
I shall offer up Prayers to the Father for you.

A Different Type of Prayer
Author: Rick's Ravings
Heavenly Father, Help us remember that the jerk who cut us off in traffic last night is a single mother who worked nine hours that day and was rushing home to cook dinner, help with homework, do the laundry and spend a few precious moments with her children.

Help us to remember that the pierced, tattooed, disinterested young man who can't make change correctly is a worried 19-year-old college student, balancing his apprehension over final exams with his fear of not getting his student loans for next semester.

Remind us, Lord, that the scary looking bum, begging for money in the same spot every day (who really ought to get a job!) is a slave to addictions that we can only imagine in our worst nightmares.

Help us to remember that the old couple walking annoyingly slow through the store aisles and blocking our shopping progress are savoring this moment, knowing that, based on the biopsy report she got back last week, this will be the last year that they go shopping together.

Heavenly Father, remind us each day that, of all the gifts you give us, the greatest gift is love.  It is not enough to share that love with those we hold dear.  Open our hearts not just to those who are close to us but to all humanity.  Let us be slow to judgment and quick to forgiveness and patience and empathy and love. AMEN!

“If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.” -1 John 5:16

Story of God’s Love

Author: Joan Wester Anderson

Liz Cobos had separated from her husband. She was emotionally devastated, and the reality of keeping her two preschool daughters fed and cared for had all but shattered her spirit. She believed in God, but where was He? She felt so alone… Reluctantly, she decided to file for financial aid, until she could find a job.

However, the paperwork would take some time, and a few days later, Liz realized that she had no money, and no food in the cupboards. She checked her purse and pockets just in case, but there was no money anywhere, no way to buy even a small bag of groceries. “I sent the girls next door because I knew my nice neighbor would feed them,” she recalls. “Then I sat on the couch and cried.” God, please, just a little help ... just enough to buy some groceries for the next week… As Liz wept, five-year-old Crystal came back into the apartment. “Mommy, what’s the matter?” she asked.

Liz didn’t want Crystal to see her crying. “Nothing, honey. Why don’t you go outside and do something?”

“Like what?” Crystal persisted.

“Oh…” Liz wiped her eyes. “Why don’t you take out the garbage? That would be a big help.”

“Okay!” Crystal took the garbage bag and headed out the door and down to the apartment complex dumpsters. A moment later, she was back. “Mommy, can I keep this plastic egg that I found in the dump? I can put my Barbie doll clothes in it.”

“No, honey,” Liz murmured absently. “You’re not supposed to bring things in from the garbage. It might be dirty…”

“It’s not, Mommy. Please? I’ll keep the egg and you can keep the money in it.”

Liz’s heart seemed to stop. “What money?”

“Here,” Crystal said, and she pulled four twenty dollar bills out of the egg. Liz stared at the bills. The dumpsters were huge—there was no possibly way she could find the owner of those bills. Did God mean them for her? Hadn’t she asked? “I will never leave you nor forsake you…” The comforting words from the Bible washed over her, and she understood.

“The money bought us groceries until my aid came through,” Liz says. “I found a job, and things are much better today, but I’ve never forgotten that moment, and the reassurance it brought me.” It wasn’t so much the money itself, she says, but the certainty that God was near and caring for her, answering her prayer in His own way, in His own time. “Nothing is impossible with Him.”

“Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?” –Luke 12:24

The Power of Love

Author: Helen Steiner Rice

There is no thinking person
who can stand untouched today
And view the world around us
drifting downward to decay

Without feeling deep within them
a silent unnamed dread,
Wondering how to stem the chaos
that lies frightfully ahead...

But the problems we are facing
cannot humanly be solved
For our diplomatic strategy
only gets us more involved

And our skillful ingenuity,
our technology and science
Can never change a sinful heart
filled with hatred and defiance...

So our problems keep on growing
every hour of every day
As man vainly tries to solve them
in his own SELF-WILLFUL WAY...

But man is powerless alone
to CLEAN UP THE WORLD OUTSIDE...
Until his own polluted soul
is CLEAN and FREE INSIDE...

For the amazing power of love
is beyond all comprehension
And it alone can heal this world
of its hatred and dissention.

“He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.” - Revelation 21:7

Whats love got to do with it?

Dear loved one,

Love is the basis of any relationship whether in marriage, career, business partnerships or other forms of life endeavours. Love has a language skill which can be acquired by all so we can derive the accrued benefits. The usage of this word today can be confusing to many people because of the thin line between selfishness and selflessness. When we fully grasp the essence of love, we will put things in proper perspective as we seek to enrich our intra and inter personal relationships.

Love is longsuffering, having patience and tolerant with other's shortcoming, mistakes and imperfections. Love is kind it is active doing well. Love does not envy, it is non-possessive and non-competitive it doesn't mind others getting ahead. Love is not puffed up or inflated with pride and so does not treat others arrogantly. Love does not behave rudely but displays good manners and courtesy. Love is not self seeking insisting on its own rights and demanding precedence rather it is unselfish always considering others. Love is not easily provoked it is not irritable, touchy, rough or hostile but graceful under pressure. Love does not take account of wrongs done to it, instead it erases resentment and love is a forgiver. Love does not find satisfaction in the shortcomings or disadvantages of others and so spreading an evil report but love aggressively advertises the good in others. Love defends and holds others up it. Believes the best about others and so credits them with good intentions it is not suspicious. Love never gives up on others but is always affirming their future. Love perseveres and remains loyal to the end. Love never fails.

Love is the determinant factor in success equation in life. Behind every organization is a face tagged love or compassion. Love is expressed daily in the intrinsic values we give to others irrespective of their net-works or net-worth or no-worth at all. We can use this simple but profound definition of love to guide our words, thoughts and actions this week. We can put on the garment of love, make our world - your area of influence where you exercise control, a better space. It begins with each one's decision to enrich others in love. Love is living life. It makes it worth living. Make a resolve to live life to the full on the wings of God's divine love.

Have a great week!
Shalom!

The Alchemy Of God

D. James Kennedy

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

Have you ever had a rock
and wished you could change it into a diamond?

Years ago, before the advent of chemistry, a science called alchemy existed, and alchemists had a similar passion:
Finding a way to transform worthless metals into gold.

Of course, they never succeeded.

But God is the master alchemist.  He has a passion for taking all things and working them for good.

Charles Spurgeon tells about one man who had complete faith that God would work everything for his good.  During the reign of Queen Mary I of England , this man was captured for preaching the gospel.

He received the sentence of being burned alive at the stake in London .  When he heard the sentence, he said, "Well, never mind.  God will work all things together for my good.  I don't know how, but He will."

On his way to London , the guards treated the man roughly.  In fact, they even threw him down to the ground, and in doing so, they broke his leg.

Then they mocked the man, saying,

"Well, tell us how this will work together for your good."

He said, "I don't know, but it will."

Before they could continue their trip, the guards had to take time to put the man's leg into a splint.

Because of this delay, the group arrived in London a day later than the guards had planned.  But the night before they arrived, Queen Mary died, and Elizabeth had taken the throne.

Instead of burning the man at the stake, Elizabeth pardoned him.  So, although his broken leg was a bad thing, God used it for his good, saving his life through the delay it caused..

Do circumstances often seem to work in opposition to your expectations?

Do you sometimes despair of any good coming from your situation?

Remember that God is in charge.
He sees the big picture;
He knows the future.
He controls all things,
and He loves you more than you can imagine.

Through your experiences,
He'll shape you, transforming you into the best person you can be.

Trust Him and even thank Him for situations that seem bad, because He works all things together for your good.

God, the mighty alchemist,
transforms the lead of our lives into gold.

“Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.” - Romans 12:20

Empty Hands

Author: Martha Snell Nicholson

One by one He took them from me,
All the things I valued most:
Until I was empty-handed,
Every glittering toy was lost.

And I walked earth's highways, grieving,
In my rage and poverty,
Till I heard His voice inviting,
"Lift your empty hands to me."

So I held my hands toward heaven
And He filled them with a store
Of His own transcendent riches
Until they could hold no more.

And at last I comprehended,
With my stupid mind and dull,
That God could not pour His riches
Into hands already full.

“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” - Luke 6:38

In God We Trust

Author: Unknown

Several years ago, a friend of mine and her husband were invited to spend the weekend at the husband's employer's home. My friend, Arlene, was nervous about the weekend. The boss was very wealthy, with a fine home on the water-way, and cars costing more than her house. The first day and evening went well, and Arlene was delighted to have this rare glimpse into how the very wealthy live.

The husband's employer was quite generous as a host, and took them to the finest restaurants. Arlene knew she would never have the opportunity to indulge in this kind of extravagance again, so was enjoying herself immensely.

As the three of them were about to enter an exclusive restaurant that evening, the boss was walking slightly ahead of Arlene and her husband. He stopped suddenly, looking down on the pavement for a long, silent moment. Arlene wondered if she was supposed to pass him. There was nothing on the ground except a single darkened penny that someone had dropped, and a few cigarette butts.

Still silent, the man reached down and picked up the penny. He held it up and smiled, then put it in his pocket as if he had found a great treasure. How absurd! What need did this man have for a single penny? Why would he even take the time to stop and pick it up?

Throughout dinner, the entire scene nagged at her. Finally, she could stand it no longer. She casually mentioned that her daughter once had a coin collection, and asked if the penny he had found had been of some value. A smile crept across the man's face as he reached into his pocket for the penny and held it out for her to see. She had seen many pennies before!

What was the point of this?

"Look at it." He said. "Read what it says." She read the words " United States of America ."

"No, not that; read further." "One cent?"

"No, keep reading." "In God we Trust?"

"Yes!"

"And?"

"And if I trust in God, the name of God is holy, even on a coin. Whenever I find a coin I see that inscription. It is written on every single United States coin, but we never seem to notice it! God drops a message right in front of me telling me to trust Him?

Who am I to pass it by?

When I see a coin, I pray, I stop to see if my trust IS in God at that moment.

I pick the coin up as a response to God; that I do trust in Him. For a short time, at least, I cherish it as if it were gold. I think it is God's way of starting a conversation with me. I am blessed that God is patient and pennies are plentiful!

When I was out shopping today, I found a penny on the sidewalk. I stopped and picked it up, and realized that I had been worrying and fretting in my mind about things I can not change. I read the words, "In God We Trust," and had to smile with joy.

Yes, God, I get the message. It seems that I have been finding an inordinate number of pennies in the last few months, but then, pennies are plentiful! And God is patient...

A gentle thought to remind us that "in God we Trust" is fundamental to every aspect of our lives from our spiritual self to the smallest denomination of currency.

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Pro 3: 5,6 KJV

“Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” - Psalm 37:5

Your Associations!

Dear loved one,

We can never underestimate the power of influence; association imparts on our lives - business, career, family and life endeavours. It is possible to be blown off course as you share your life with others but at whatever point you find yourself this Monday morning, we can retrace our steps with these basic questions:

How did I get here?
Who am I constantly around?
What impact has this association had on me?
What do I need to change for the better?
What is my detailed pilot plan for change?

We live in a world that is constantly evolving. We need to take a closer look at how others can influence us both negatively and positively. Maybe everyone you associate with has been a positive energizing influence or maybe there are some bad apples in the bunch. We need to take an objective look today because everything is worth a second look, especially the power of association. Good association will surely take one in the right direction we need to go in life. This is called association on purpose which means we are around people who consistently influences us positively to expand our horizon in life. 'We can become wise by walking with wise but when we hang out with wrong crowd, we can watch our lives fall to pieces'.

Have a great week!
Shalom!

Special Sauce

Author: Unknown

I was sitting at the drive-through window at McDonald's this weekend (ok, I eat out a lot). I did the usual thing, I drove up to the menu and ordered. I proceeded to the first window and paid, then drove to the second window and waited for the order. After sitting there for a few minutes, the clerk slid back the window and asked, "Will you please pull over to the side? your order is not ready."

I was a little upset and even impatient, but I pulled over and waited. I thought, "How come other folks ordered and drove straight through and I have to wait." I waited for another two or three minutes. It seemed like hours before the clerk finally ran out, tapped on the window, and handed me the order.

Of course I asked, "Hey, what took so long?" She replied, "You wanted the Special Sauce, which meant it had to be specially made for that sandwich - it doesn't usually come with that one.

It seems to me this scene could be a reflection of our prayer lives. We make our request to the Lord. Our menu is His Word, where He has listed promise after promise. We stand before Him and request and plead and, sometimes, even beg. We go to the first window and pay, sometimes with fervent prayer, sometimes with prolonged suffering, sometimes with obedience, and sometimes not at all.

We then move to the second window and wait for our order. If God doesn't answer within a few minutes, we become upset. You know the phrase, "Jesus, it's 5:00 p.m. Friday; I prayed to You yesterday, and You still haven't answered. I can't wait much longer."

Why is it taking Him so long? I've seen people drive up before me and they received their orders right away! We even go so far as to tap on the window and ask if He has forgotten our order. We become impatient. We become upset. We become downright mad.

Lord I asked for a mate ten days ago and I don't see him/her anywhere.

Lord, I've been asking for a new job for two years; others have passed me by.

I've been waiting on a financial blessing for ten years and I still have more month than money.

Where are You and why haven't You blessed me?

And just when you think He is giving you the answer, He pulls back the royal curtain of Eternity, and says, "Please pull over to the side and wait a while longer."

This once frustrated me to no end, made me mad, made me want to give up, made me want to holler; that is, until the clerk brought out my sandwich. Then, the revelation became clear.

Do you know why the Lord has put you on the side? Do you know why you have had to wait for this blessing longer than before? Do you know why He has put you through more this time than ever? Do you know why it seems as though He has not heard you and He does not care? Do you know why it seems like you have had to go through more tears, more pains, and more struggling this time?

Because this blessing is a Special Sauce Blessing!

This is an Overflowing, Pressed-Down, Shaken Together, Blessing!

You made a Special Order and God has been putting together a Special Sauce Blessing for you and He has to prepare it for you!

That mate you wanted . . . He's putting together a Special Sauce!

That job you wanted . . . He's putting together a Special Sauce!

That financial blessing . . . He's putting together a Special Sauce!

That peace on the job . . . He's putting together a Special Sauce!

That house . . . He's putting together a Special Sauce!

That deeper anointing . . . He's putting together a Special Sauce!

That promotion . . . He's putting together a Special Sauce!

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end... [and a Special Sauce]. Jeremiah 29:11

How many people have driven away before the clerk brought their food, and how many people have missed their blessings because they did not wait?

Hang on there. Keep on waiting. You made a Special Order, now wait on God's Special Sauce!

But they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)

They who wait shall receive a Special Sauce!

“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” - Luke 6:38

Nothing Just Happens!

From time to time we have questions about our life and we are unable to rest without answers

We want to ask why.
There have been times I know I ask God to just let me die.
The pain and issues in my life appeared to overwhelm me.
But God knew all about it, and now I can clearly see.
How He was working EVERYTHING out for my good.

Nothing just happens by chance.
God can turn your circumstance around as quick as a glance.
Our timing is not the same as His.

We are a microwave society and we want everything now.
Are we willing to humble ourselves and bow?
And say, “Whatever it takes, LORD.”

No matter what's going on around you continue to walk upright.
The LORD said he will fight your battles for you, you need not fight.
The LORD said he will make your enemies your footstools.
The LORD said trust in Him with all your heart, lean not to your own understanding.
The LORD said he would never leave us or forsake us.
The Word of God has many promises in it for us.
Us who say it is in God that we totally trust.

------------JUST BELIEVE-----------

I speak from experience on this thing. God must first become your everything before you will see what he was really doing.

I had to rededicate my life unto Him. I must put nothing and no one before Him. I must give up my will for his perfect will in my life. I must trust him like never before and wait upon the LORD … patiently wait.
I must obey God in all areas of my life … ALL AREAS.

God will have no other idols before Him. Our God is a jealous God.
His timing is always right on time. We must try to see God in everything going on in our lives. He is always there.
Remember … Nothing just Happens.

My Daughter from a Mother

Author: Rose

About 21 years ago, after a very difficult 8 ½ month pregnancy, I gave birth to a stillborn baby girl.  I was devastated and very angry at our Creator.  I felt He turned His back on me so I decided to do the same to Him.  I refused to go to weekly mass; decided I was in control of all that will happen from now on in my life.

Three years later I became pregnant again.  All was going fine until my fifth month.  Again, as with the first pregnancy, complications arose. I wanted to scream at the world.  I lived in terror of the outcome of this pregnancy.  I prayed to Our Father, something I stopped doing in the last three years, and begged Him to allow me to have this child. Begged Him not to take this little one away from me.  I bargained with Him, promising I would do right by this one if only I could keep it. Well, I was blessed with a little boy.  I knew in my heart there was a superior power taking care of my baby so I named him appropriately, Nathan, meaning a gift from God.

Life was going fine; I thanked God every day for the gift of my child. I watched him in awe each step of his life.  I allowed him to grow, not holding him back from experiencing all that life had to offer, both good and bad.  He is now 18 years old and still the focus of my life.

I shall go back to four years ago.

Although I thanked Our Creator every day for the gift of my son, I still refused to go to church.  I felt I was getting along fine without Him in my everyday life.  Little did I know He was at the controls, not me.  He came to me on two occasions in my dreams.  After the first dream I passed it off as just a dream, and then the second dream forced me to open my eyes and take notice.  I fought the urge to go back to church but, as I stated before, He was at the controls.  I began little by little returning to Him.  I am now practicing my faith and my life has become so much richer because of it.

I was still very angry at God for taking my little girl away but I learned to live with it.  One morning I awoke and found the anger gone. I found myself thanking Him for the blessing He gave me in my son.  I also found myself thanking Him for allowing me to carry His little girl for as long as I had.  She was given to me for a very short time and now, as I look back, I understand why she had to go home to Him.  Her purpose was to give me the gift of helping others and this I did on many occasions.

Although the hurt had been healed I still wondered if she was happy and safe.  Well one Sunday morning, which just happened to be Mother’s Day, I received my answer.

You see, Nathan purchased a Mother’s Day card for me.  In his haste he glanced over the cover and only read the content of the inside.   He was halfway out of his bedroom, card in hand.  I saw the card and he couldn’t hide it and try to say he didn’t have one.  When he passed it to me his words were, “Mom, I picked this out and didn’t look at the cover very well,” and went on to apologize for the gift of the card he had chosen.  You see, on the cover was From Your Son and “Daughter” on Your Special Day.  The word Daughter is in quotations.  It brought a good many tears to my eyes but they were tears of great joy, peace, love and understanding.  God does answer and He used my beautiful son to be His messenger.  Nathan was quite upset at first but when I explained to him what he had done he again wished me the most happiest of Mother’s Day.  I am truly blessed. Along with many other things, I have such a great son and have been fortunate enough to form a bond with my baby girl.  I feel I can let her rest now.  I now know (don’t wonder if) she is in the comforting, loving arms of our Father.

I still have my Mother’s Day card; it is tucked safely in my bible. When I’m down and feeling low I take the card out and am picked up immediately.

This is just one of the great things that have taken place in my life since I started back on the road to Our Father.  I’ve learned we are given challenges, both good and bad, to help us grow, appreciate life and give us the experience so we may help others through similar experiences in their lives.  With faith in His loving guidance we can conquer all.

Oh, by the way, today is my little girls 21st birthday.

“Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.” - Proverbs 31:28

With God all things are possible

A young man working in the
army was constantly
humiliated because he
believed in... God.
One day the captain wanted
to humiliate him before the
troops.
He called the young man and
said:
- Young man come here, take
the key and go and park the
Jeep in front.
the young man replied:
- I can not drive!
The captain said:
- But then ask your assistance
God! shows us that he exist!
The young man takes the key
and walked to the vehicle
begins to pray ...He parks the
jeep to the place PERFECTLY
well as the captain wanted.
The young man came out of
the jeep and saw them all
crying. They all said together:
- We want to serve your God!
The young soldier was
astonished, asked what was
going on?
CAPTAIN crying opened the
hood of the jeep by showing
the young man that the car
had no
engine.
Then the boy said:
See? This is the God I serve,
THE GOD OF IMPOSSIBLE,
the God who gives life to what
does not exist.
You may think there are
things still impossible
WITH GOD EVERYTHING IS
POSSIBLE ...

TEMPER!!!

Dear loved one,

Jack grew up with a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails such that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of their fence. On the first day Jack had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually reduced. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence because of the effort it entails. Finally the day came when he didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father, he then suggested that he start to pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and Jack was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father led him to the fence and said, 'You have done well, my son but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same because whenever we say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this. You can stab a man with a knife, but it doesn't matter how many times you say I'm sorry, the wound will still be there.

This week please remember that verbal abuse is as bad as physical abuse if not worse. We must learn to treat people with dignity, respect and honour in the face of grievances, complaints and disagreements. "He who has control over his emotion of anger can capture a whole city. We must overcome negative emotion with good disposition and never match evil for evil. We often use words to make or mar our relationships. Relationships are rare jewels, indeed they make us happy and fulfilled but sometimes they can hurt us and drive us to tears. Be mindful of your temper this week!

Have a great week!
Shalom!
