THE POWER OF SUBMISSION OF A GODLY WIFE PART 2 -BY PASTOR FAITH OYEDEPO

Dear Reader,

Happy new year to you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ! Without any doubt, I know that the Lord has done so much for you this year.
Are you thankful to Him for all His benefits that you have enjoyed this year? Some of them are the gift of life, the benefit of forgiveness, protection, provisions, redemption and so on!
Last week, I brought you the introductory part of this teaching. I said your submission to your husband must be in everything as summoned in God’s Word. This week, I will be teaching on Submission: A Command From God!
Failure to embrace submission by some women, has brought so much heartache into several homes. God in His omniscience knows that without this most effective ingredient, no matter how anointed the couple are, that marriage simply cannot work; hence, He made it a command not a suggestion.
Your struggles to make things work in your marriage would not yield positive result, not until you come to the understanding that submission is a command from God, and obey it, you’ll never enjoy marital bliss.
Read this testimony for a confirmation:
“I have been married for over 12 years, but what I am enjoying now, I’ve never enjoyed since I got married. I thank God for His Word to me through you. You taught … and laid emphasis on wives being submissive to their husbands in everything, just like the church submits to Christ. My understanding opened and I told God, ‘Lord, from this day, I know that obedience is the key’. Ever since that day, I have been enjoying what all my fasting, binding and all couldn’t deliver to me. I thank God that now it’s like I am wedded anew. Just yesterday morning, to confirm God’s faithfulness in my home, my husband gave me a cheque of one hundred thousand Naira, which I cashed this morning. I now enjoy peace, love and harmony.” Adebayo, L.
Somebody may ask,
•“What if a woman has an unbelieving husband, should she still submit?” Yes, because even as an unbeliever, he is still the husband.
•A follow-up question is: “What if the unbelieving husband wants to involve the wife in sinful acts (such as sacrificing to idols), should she still be submissive?” The answer is an emphatic, “No! “ Any submission that will make you go into sin to disobey God’s Word and eventually miss heaven, is unscriptural.
It is important to note that when whatever you do does not fit into the Lord’s command as Ephesians 5:22 and Colossians 3:18 say, you are to decline. This, nonetheless, must be done in meekness. May the Lord give you understanding.
There was a time my husband and I wanted to change schools for our children. There was a particular school we wanted them to go, and we had started making arrangement for the change. But after some time, I discovered that there was a better school they could attend.
Though I had my reasons, based on God’s Word one of which was that the proprietress is a spirit-filled believer and most of the workers are Christians; but my husband did not immediately see why I wanted that particular school, especially after both of us had agreed on one before.
For the fact that I have the understanding that submission is a command from God, and had learnt how to use the weapon of prayer to get whatever I wanted, instead of arguing, I took the issue to God in prayer, while I presented my reasons before God.
God did it! Few days later, my husband came home and said that that particular school I talked about was where the children would start attending! Can you imagine how excited I was that day? Immediately, all arrangements were made and they resumed there. What arguments wouldn’t have brought for me, submission and prayer did.
You need grace for total submission, which is available for those born again. If you are not born again, and would like to do so now, say this prayer:
Dear Lord, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Now I know I am born again!
